Founding a Clarinet Trio or Quartet

Hello fellow clarinet players,

I would like to found a clarinet trio or quartet and play music from those traditions that provide music for such groups (as far as I've experienced, that's classical, alpine/German/Swiss/Austrian/Czech folk music, klezmer, and occasionally jazz). I'm most comfortable with and would like to focus on classical and folk.

I have one book of classical clarinet duets and several classical pieces for clarinet trios. I also recently traveled to Munich, and while I was there I bought several books of Volksmusik (Walzer, Wiesen, Jodler, Tänze) one for clarinet quartets (with the bass line being written for either Bb or Bass clarinet), two for clarinet trios, and one for clarinet duets. Contrary to "popular" opinion, Volksmusik is not easy to play well nor is it all polkas or kitchy. If you have a low opinion of Volksmusik, it is probably because you haven't heard good musicians play it. :-P :-)

I can reserve practice rooms on the Hoenggerberg campus of the ETH for us. If it eventually turns out that I'm the only one for whom the Hoenggerberg campus is convenient, I'll get access to the practice rooms near the central campus.

It would be nice if you can play the clarinet with good (classical) tone and in tune. Otherwise those Jodlers won't sound so great!

I look forward to hearing from you!

Viele Gruesse,

Clarissa
