Macadamia (insta: @tanzkapelle_macadamia) is a small salon orchestra (9 musicians including the position to be filled) that mainly plays ballroom dance music at events such as Tanzquotient balls, as well as regular concerts. We cover a wide range of styles: classic waltz, tango, swing, cha-cha, salsa, samba, and more. Our next show will be a special one: we have the honor of playing the gala ball at the 69th European Tournament for Dancing Students (https://etds.ch/) on June 22. We are looking for a drummer/percussionist to join us either before or after this event.

The music calls for a delicate, flexible drumming style—ideally with the ability to read sheet music and the intuition to come up with fitting rhythms when it isn’t available. Experience with buzz rolls and brushwork is also a plus. Our singer Magnus (that’s me, hi!) is also a percussionist and assists during instrumental pieces.

Instead of weekly rehearsals, we work in focused rehearsal phases before performances, sometimes with breaks of a few months in between. Over the past year, we had around 20 evening rehearsals in a lovely band room, 5 full rehearsal Sundays, and 5 performances + occasionally meet for brunch or dinner :) We’re looking forward to playing a bit more frequently in the future.
